"The scene", whatever it was...deteriorated for sure. My forst show was in 1979, and while some crowds were often rowdy (i saw the bulk of my shows on the East coast), to me the biggest thing that changed was the influx of "faux heads" after 1987 (I won't call them Touch-heads) who were clearly there just for the excuse to over-indluge in whatever-drugs, alcohol--and be "seen" at the scene.

Tickets became pricey and harder to get (the annoyance of the 'mail-in' requests) whereas only a year earlier in 1986, you could still roll up to the pkg. lot the night of the show and score a ticket at close to face value.

I still saw many great shows post-1987, but by the time I saw my last in 1994, I was definitely not going out of my way to get to a show.
